Based on the actual events of The Affair of the four abandoned children of Sugamo, this heartbreaking story captures the bittersweet kindness the children have for one another and their innocent longing for their mother in an unflinching light. Beautiful cinematography and masterfully directed.

A gorgeous movie from millionaire painter turned director, Julian Schnable. This is so different from the works that launched him. A little soft and gushy, no? A good movie, nevertheless.

I learned yet again not to judge a movie by its cover this weekend. Very nicely done film about an art school student. Much more poignant and eye catching than Art School Confidential.

What a subtle yet stunning story. Christopher Doyle’s photography is quite awesome.

An incredible visual homage to Ozu without any of the guts.
Still beautiful though.

Once, I watched this movie for its photography, but I was only looking skin deep. This film offers a slow contemplation on the cyclical nature of our journey; and it gives us a compelling metaphor for the inevitability of change and how we grow based on the choices we make.
A true Spaghetti western but with crazy Japs.Naturally, there is a samurai sword scene where the sword blocks and slices bullets. Here I have screen capped the only subtitle in the entire movie.
Lets all tell tall tales. Perhaps we will learn and grow together.
